Communications on the Move

It has never been easier or cheaper to keep in touch on the move, and long gone are the days when you had to search around in your pocket for spare foreign coins to make a call home or buy a long distance telephone card.

Even the worst technophobes can now stay in touch with an array of devices on the market. Laptops can be used to wirelessly send emails and visit social media sites or they can be used for internet conferencing, for business and for pleasure. Even remote areas of the world can use satellites to ensure that they have a good internet connection on their laptops for keeping in touch.

You can even access many of the same features on the current mobile phones available, as many nowadays have internet access. You can call on your phone for free using Skype or other free internet programmes and the call quality is no different than that of a regular telephone call.

One word of advice though, and that is, if you do intend to use your phone abroad, check the call charges before you leave, as calls can really add up. If you can, use another popular electronics method of communication such as internet or Skype.

If you are staying in a hotel, it also pays to check their internet charges before connecting as some charge quite steeply and you would be better off visiting somewhere where there is free wireless. Many restaurants and cafes now offer wireless for free, so you only have to spend out on a cup of coffee.
